Issues discussed in this volume relate to the four major goals of Education For All, namely: ensuring the learning needs of young people and adults are met through equitable access to learning and living skills programs; achieving 50 percent improvement in adult literacy especially for women by 2015 besides providing equitable access to basic and continuing education for all adults; achieving gender equality in primary and secondary education by 2015; and improving all aspects of the quality of education and ensuring excellence for all so that recognized and measurable leaarning outcomes are achieved in literacy, numeric and essential living skills.
