Graphing calculators present new opportunities for educators to improve upon the teaching and learning of mathematical sciences. Though yet to be widely integrated in Malaysian schools, these hand-held technological devices are an integral tool in many schools throughout the world. In fact, access to a graphing calculator is assumed by several international examination boards. This book of laboratory explorations contains materials designed for the special topic course in graphing calculators taught at Universiti Sains Malaysia. The explorations include topics of calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and statistics. The course highlights an inquiry-based format with explorations of mathematics in a data rich modeling environment. However, it is pertinent that this "hands-on" environment be complemented with a "minds-on" approach. Outcomes of this goal are achieved through emphasis on the use of graphing technology as a tool that presents challenging mathematical concepts while enhancing their understanding and that engenders student learning at higher-order cognitive levels.
