Imams in Malaysia are viewed both as leaders and officials of the mosque. Even though their importance has always been seen to be limited due to their job scope, their roles as mosque leaders and the Muslim society have never been underestimated by scholars. Leadership Development Model for Religious Leaders proposes a model of leadership which aims to provide ideas on how leadership capability of imams in Malaysia could be enhanced. The model could be useful for imams in the country as it was developed based on validated data from empirical researches conducted on imams and other religious officials within and outside Malaysia as well as those compared with researches and theories in conventional leadership and management field of study. Hence, with the model, imams could effectively be leaders in organizations and societies.
